3rd Serbian Conference on Materials Application and Technology
The 3rd Serbian Conference on Materials Application and Technology (SCOM), a national conference, was organized by the Society for Science Development of Serbia and Vlatacom Research and Development Institute in Belgrade, Serbia. SCOM is the new home for all technology-related materials applications research, with a special emphasis on advanced materials design, manufacturing and integration, as well as novel materials-based technologies, including energy, healthcare, electronics, optics, microfluidics, sensors, food safety, etc. The aim of this conference was to bridge the gap between fundamental research and industry in Serbia. The conference topics included nanomaterials, biomaterials, optical and photonic materials, materials for energy production and storage, chemo/bio/physical engineering, photocatalysis, green technologies, sensor materials and technologies, as well as materials synthesis and processing. The full Book of Abstracts is available here.
The conference program included 4 tutorial presentations, 9 oral presentations and 4 invited lectures:
- “Bismuth-Sensitized Eu(III) Luminescent LED Technology for Effective Indoor Plant Growth” by Sanja Kuzman, Centre of Excellence for Photoconversion, Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences - National Institute of the Republic of Serbia, University of Belgrade
- “Bacterial nanocellulose: From bacteria to breakthrough biomaterials” by Vuk Filipovic, Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering, University of Belgrade
- “Imaging techniques for aerospace research using luminescent materials” by Benoit Fond, Department of Aerodynamics, ONERA, the French Aerospace Lab, Paris Saclay University
- “Europium-doped Molybdates for Luminescence Thermometry” by Tamara Gavrilovic, Vinca Institute of Nuclear Sciences – National Institute of the Republic of Serbia, University of Belgrade.
The EcoPlastiC project results were presented in an Invited Lecture:
“Bacterial nanocellulose: From bacteria to breakthrough biomaterials” by Vuk Filipovic with co-authors Marijana Ponjavic, Sanja Jeremic and Jasmina Nikodinovic-Runic from the Group for Eco-Biotechnology and Drug Development, Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering (IMGGE), University of Belgrade.
