EcoPlastiC at “Green chemistry for a circular economy and a sustainable future”
In November 2023, experts in the fields of environmental protection, innovation, economics, economy and science gathered to discuss key issues related to the application of green chemistry and sustainable chemical processes in achieving the circular economy. The event “Green chemistry for a circular economy and a sustainable future” was organized by the Center for Cleaner Production of Serbia, which operates within the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, University of Belgrade (Serbia). It was organized with the support of the project "Global Program for Green Chemistry and Innovation".
This hybrid event had over 80 in-person and online participants and included lectures on innovative products and processes that support the circular economy and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. There were two sessions:
1. “Green Chemistry and regulatory framework: Opportunities and Challenges”
2. “Green Chemistry as a Support to the Economy towards Sustainable Development – Examples of Good Practice”
Within the second session, representatives of companies and science presented various innovations and good practices in the application of the principles of green chemistry, and the EcoPlastiC project was presented by Dr Jasmina Nikodinovic-Runic (IMGGE, Serbia) in a talk “Bioplastic from plastic waste – using green conversion”.
