EcoPlastiC at the 6th Symposium on Biotransformations for Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Industry

The international event 6th Symposium on Biotransformations for Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Industry was organized in Krakow (Poland) by the Jerzy Haber Institute of Catalysis and Surface Chemistry, Polish Academy of Science, and Faculty of Food Technology, University of Agriculture in Krakow.

As part of the symposium, there were 24 oral presentations, 7 flash oral presentations and 33 poster presentations, as well as 5 invited lectures:

  • “IL-1 Discovery and engineering of biocatalysts powered by microfluidics” by Zbynek Prokop, Department of Experimental Biology and RECETOX, Masaryk University, Czech Republic
  • “Biotransformation in production of fermented beverages” by Pawel Satora, Department of Fermentation Technology and Microbiology, University of Agriculture in Krakow, Poland
  • “Lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases; a history and insights into current progress” by Morten Sorlie, Faculty of Chemistry, Biotechnology, and Food Science, Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Norway
  • “Biotransforming waste streams into biomolecules and biomaterials“ by Sandra Vojnovic, Group for Eco-Biotechnology and Drug Development, Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering (IMGGE), University of Belgrade, Serbia
  • “Enzymes in Biotransformation: Overview and Outlook” by Johann Heider, Laboratory for Microbial Biochemistry, Department of Biology, Philipps University Marburg, Germany

There was one invited lecture presenting the results from the EcoPlastiC project:

  • Invited lecture Biotransforming waste streams into biomolecules and biomaterials” by Sandra Vojnovic (Full Research Professor) with co-authors Jasmina Nikodinovic-Runic (Full Research Professor) and Marijana Ponjavic (Associate Research Professor), Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering, University of Belgrade, Serbia.
